Why are La Vegas hotels so expensive on August 27th and August 28th?

I have been trying to book a hotel and the rates are double on Monday and Tuesday. Is anything going on on those dates in Las Vegas?

  2. that's the week of Labor Day, Rates will always be higher around a holiday.

  4. There is a huge convention in town then. 8/27 - 8/30 Magic International 115,000 attendees

  6. "debwils_4kids" is right.... MAGIC is in town... aprox 115,000 ppl in town for the convention. That is only one of the conventions here during that time. http://www.lasvegastourism.com/ Check out the site above before you come to Vegas... for any large conventions. This will help you find a good couple of days to come when large conventions are not in town. Hope this helps.
  7. It is just before labor day. The last big fling of summer. The sad thing is that one week after labor day the prices go way down.
  8. Labor Day weekend. Why not look at the Fiesta in Henderson. Sams town, or even Sun Coast on the border of LV-Henderson. Texas Station in N. Las Vegas.
  9. Why are so many of you saying prices are high on 08/27 & 08/28 because it is Labor Day?!?! Labor day is September 3rd!!!
  10. Hotel rates in Vegas are purely based on supply and demand. There are two things working against you here. First, there are two large conventions in town. These group gobble up rooms like there's no tomorrow. Second, it is near the end of the Summer. College kids and adults all seem to look to squeeze the last weekend out of Summer and make it count. these two factors mean that Vegas will be packed and room rates will follow suit.
  11. Labor Day weekend and a convention in town. The week after should be better if you can wait a week or two.
