What tips can you give to getting upgrades on long haul flights and Las Vegas hotels?

We are getting married in Las Vegas and are flying with Delta and staying at the Wynn Hotel for 10 nights?

  1. have you checked expedia.com? I got a good deal for staying at the Flamingo with Airfare for l5 days for 500 dollars from them. it doesn't hurt to look around.
  2. Dress smart and ask if there are any seats free in an upgraded class
  3. When you get to Vegas ask for a 'comp' card at your hotel - you use them on the slots to build up 'comp' points - when u have enough you can get room upgrades and other complimentary items - try to get a card that is valid for a few hotels
  4. Book your hotel with hotwire.com. I have used it twice and got $300+ hotel rooms for about $100. You have to pay without knowing exactly which hotel you will be in, but if you just want a nice hotel and don't care which one - it is ideal. You can choose the area of Vegas you want to be in and learn a few things about the hotel (just not the name) before you book. If you are renting a car, consider staying in the Primm. It is not far from Vegas and very very cheap (like three stars for $26). Otherwise, I would recommend the South Strip area with the newer larger casinos.
  5. First, ignore the "comp" card answer. Wynn is probably the most popular hotel in Las Vegas right now so if you're going to be here on a weekend it's going to be tough to get an upgrade, but if you slip the front desk guy a twenty you should be able to at least get a decent view. Of course get a players club card (at Wynn its called a Red Card, red is considered lucky among Asian players) it will also be your room card and the more you play the more you will get "comped", and if you loose enough money they might even "comp" your room. Even better loose enough money they'll pickup the tab for your flight Just don't forget that Wynn is also the most expensive hotel in town right now so you'll have to gamble quite a bit, if you play slots or table games make sure you put in at least 4 hours worth of gambling per day. Also if you play table games ask how much you should bet to get "rated" and play at that level. I can tell you that at most casinos you'll have to play at least $25 per hand to even get attention from a pit boss. Also check with the front desk periodically to see if any rooms have become available, also if you've been gambling talk to a Casino Host and they might be able to do something for you, but without gambling forget about an upgrade. Good luck and don't loose too much money!
