should you wear a wedding gown in las vegas chapel?

My soon to be mother-in-law questioned me about buying a formal wedding gown that she said that I should have boutgh a simple wedding dress instead of a gown since its only a civil wedding in las vegas chapel. chapel or church is there any attire to be follow? It's my wedding!

1. Hey its your wedding, why not wear a beautiful gown!! You are already giving up the "BIG" wedding with all the georgous flowers and table arangements and expensive catering and such you should definately splurge on a dress that you'll be drop dead georgous in!! Get someting simple for the after party not the cermony. Duh whats wrong with your mother in law? Its YOUR day YOU are the bride!!
2. You wear what you want to wear! Get what you feel the best in and offer no apologies to anyone. It IS your wedding and you should feel comfortable and beautiful. Good luck and have a great time!
3. wear whatever you want - I've seen brides in very formal dresses and some wearing jeans a t-shirts - it really doesn't matter. I bought my dream dress for my wedding in Las Vegas last year and don't regret it for a moment. Have a fantastic time.
