Stores in Vegas

What are reasons for having a quickie Las Vegas wedding?

I am looking for reasons why people get married in Vegas on the spur on the moment besides being drunk.

Public Comments

  1. their stupid
  2. To make it cheap and fun rather than a huge big fuss with arguments and crisis all the time.
  3. costs less. less drama. vegas is a party atmosphere. it's fun. it's spontaneous. vegas baby.
  4. it's cheap and they don't care about having friends and family at the ceremony
  5. are you cereal? Im super cereal! lets get married!!!!!!!
  6. Probably the romance of being away together and you get swept up in the moment. I think it would be terribly romantic to be with your partner in Vegas, gambling, dining, making the rounds - and then have him pop the question. If I ever get married again, it will be in Vegas. But a planned Vegas wedding.
  7. There are as many 'reasons' for the 'quickie marriages' in Las Vegas as there are couples getting married. Some people actually 'plan to get married' in Las Vegas because that's where they want to go for their honeymoon ... others, all they 'do' in Vegas is get married ... some are bad marriages, but some are good, and some are 'perfect' even if they got started in a 'weird way' ... sorry, but I just can't imagine getting married by a man dressed like Elvis!
  8. Maybe because they are marrying without their parents aprovel or having fun while getting married.
  9. being knocked up!
  10. It's cheap and it gives you a story to tell for the rest of your life. It's one way what happens in Vegas, does not indeed stay in Vegas.
  11. Because that is where we wanted to get married. I had always wanted to get married there. I like the pretty lights and the excitement. It was cheap, private, and simple. I'm not a gambler and I don't drink.
  12. It can be that people are already planning a wedding where they are normally from & when they get to Vegas they realize how much easier (and CHEAPER) it is to just do it then & there. Or because they get overwhelmed by the city and are already in love & decide just to do it!
  13. Cheaper, less time and effort needed to plan, avoid family conflicts, and many do it when they are passionately in love and just cannot wait any longer.
  14. Don't want to deal with family drama!!
  15. Its affordable, fun and quirky. You can put the money you were going to put into a wedding towards a down payment on a house or pay off bills or do something fun. It is fun because your friends and family can have fun while they are there for your wedding. Plus it is quirky, which will be memorable to all of your guest.
  16. some couples just get tired of the pressure of planning a big wedding, others get lost in a romantic moment or crisis and act spontaniously
  17. Our wedding was not a quickie, but now I see why people marry in Vegas. The reason we got married there is simple-it was the easiest place to get married without bureacratic paperwork!!! I am American, my husband is German, and we went to the German govt. to see what we needed for me to get married in my husband´s hometown. They had a huge list of papers we needed to submit, and we walked out of the courthouse, and my fiance (at the time) said, "no f------ way. We found out if we married in Chicago, where I was living, we would have to submit papers, there was a two day waiting period, and I had to get a pre-marital exam. No way! I didn´t want to marry in Vegas, but my fiance did, and so we made a deal-he picked the wedding spot, and I chose the honeymoon spot-Italy! We looked on the internet, found that all we needed to marry in Vegas was our passports for a license ($55), and we planned-for 3 months-a wonderful, no hassle or stress wedding with 14 people in attendance. Everyone that attended agreed that it was the best, most fun, wedding they have ever been to. The hotel was nice, there was plenty for guests to do while they stayed, our ceremony was wonderful, and our reception was fun-even without a dance floor!
